About the role
Embark Vet is looking for an experienced, motivated Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team. This role contributes to the integrity of our financial records, supports month-end close, and helps strengthen our accounting operations. The ideal candidate is a quick learner who is detail-oriented, comfortable owning processes and reconciliations independently, and has hands-on experience with modern finance tools like NetSuite and Ramp.
What you’ll do
- Prepaids & Accruals — Own the preparation and reconciliation of prepaid expense schedules and accrual entries, including monthly journal entries, ensuring accurate and timely recognition in accordance with GAAP
- Fixed Assets — Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, and monthly depreciation entries
- Payroll & Benefits Support— Record monthly payroll and benefit journal entries, ensuring accuracy and proper coding across departments
- Leases — Partner with the Accounting Manager to maintain lease schedules, and record monthly entries in accordance with ASC 842
- Cash — Perform monthly bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances in a timely manner
- Audit Support — Assist with audit requests, including gathering documentation, preparing schedules and maintaining organized audit-ready workpapers across all accounting activities
- Maintain and improve SOPs for accounting processes, supporting ongoing process improvements
- Support day-to-day accounting operations including ad hoc requests, compliance upkeep, accounting inbox coordination, and internal and external communications
Experience we’re looking for
- 2+ years of experience in accounting or a related role
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
- Experience with NetSuite and Ramp is a plus
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets
- Positive, self-motivated, and enthusiastic team player with excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, small team environment

Salary: $76,000 - $88,000 depending on experience and qualifications
